RAPUNZEL

Rapunzel Foundation.

This foundation was set up to support children and adults who have alopecia. As an industry our profession enables us to create beautiful hairstyles for women and every hairdresser is inspired by the happy customer and the effect the new hairstyle has on her self esteem.

So now imagine the lady with no hair!! Freedom wigs offer the wearer the freedom to have a "normal life". They suction onto the head, and the wearer can swim, go to the gym even have her hair done in a salon. I feel that by supporting the Rapunzel Foundation the industry is empathising with these ladies and sending a message that we care.

As one lady wrote " Since I got my Freedom Wig I am regaining my self esteem".

A salon can support the foundation by registering  to cut hair ( has to be 12 inches) or becoming involved in the tips for a day campaign which takes place on the 23rd of June 2012

I invite you to check out the website sponsored by Wella Ireland www.RapunzelFoundation.com

GREEN RIBBON CAMPAIGN MAY 2014

Let's get talking about mental health this May. Support the Green Ribbon campaign.

See Change, the National Stigma Reduction Partnership have launched the annual Green Ribbon Campaign, to promote open discussion of mental health during May 2014.

Throughout May, hundreds of local and national events will take place as part of the Green Ribbon national calendar.  This social movement to encourage a national conversation about mental health is led by 90 partner organisations, hundreds of volunteers and an unprecedented 50 campaign ambassadors with real-life experience of mental health problems ready to share their own stories to help others and end stigma.

·  Pick up your Green Ribbon at one of the various community events on the national Green Ribbon calendar and at major Irish Rail stations and at every Citizens Information Centre and MABS office nationwide.

·  Take part in National Time to Talk Day on Friday May 16th by simply making the time and space for a conversation about mental health with family, friends and colleagues #TimetoTalk

You don’t need to be an expert to start talking about mental health or have all the answers.  Sometimes the most helpful thing you can do is to let someone know that you are there for them and simply listen. Are you ready to start your conversation?  http://www.greenribbon.ie/start-the-conversation
