National Minimum Wage Rates

 

   NOTE:

The NATIONAL MINIMUM WAGE RATE will change on the 1st January 2018  from 9.25 per working hour for an experienced adult worker to 9.55 per working hour.  For further clarification please call 056-8833808 or 0866995003.

 

 

 NB: In order to pay the Minimum Wage rates (to a trainee hairdresser) you must follow the guidelines relating to the National Minimum Wage Act 2000 as set out in the Irish Statute Book. A course of study or training must satisfy the criteria set out in Section 16 of the National Minimum Wage Act 2000.

Labour Relations Commission Early Resolution Service Pilot

Minister Bruton recently announced The Early Resolution Service (ERS). 

This new free service which is currently being piloted, provides parties to a claim/referral to the Rights Commissioners Service and the Employmnet Appeals Tribunal or NERA the opportuntiy to avail of a netural and impartial third party to assist them resolve the issue in dispute avoiding the need for formal adjudication or inspection.  This will involve an assessment of eligibility, engaging with the parties to th edispute, securing willingness by parties to participate on a voluntary basis in early resolution using a range of intervention tools including email and telephone communication.  This is a welcome initiative by the Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovations Workplace Relations Reform Programme.  For further information please log onto

Vidal Sassoon

Wednesday 9th May 2012 marked the sad passing of Vidal Sassoon at the age of 84 years.  A recipient of an IHF International Icon - RIP.

Vidal Sassoon became the most celebrated hairdresser in the world having begun his career as an apprentice during the Second World War, going on to revolutionise an industry through his iconic haircuts, salons, schools and product lines. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 20 years Ronnie, his children, grandchildren, family and friends and all who share a passion for cutting hair.

Skin Test/Patch Test

The Irish Hairdressers Federation reminds all hairdressers of their obligation to follow the manufacturers instructions when carrying out a skin test/patch test.  "Please refer to your manufacturers instructions or representative if you have any queries.”
